Apparel, mugs and more!

I have recently been working on getting both a cafepress and a Zazzle store up and running. I am doing my best to insure that the same products do not appear in both stores. Both stores offer many different products (cafepress offers journals where as Zazzle does not, Zazzle offers neck ties, etc....) so this should not be a problem. To visit our cafepress store, go to: www.cafepress.com/darkslinger To visit our Zazzle store, go to: http://www.zazzle.com/darkslinger*

Darkslinger Joins forces with Drivethrucomics!

Darkslinger Comics is proud to announce that DriveThruComics (www.drivethrucomics.com) will be the official distributor of Darkslinger Comics line in electronic format. As part of the agreement, DriveThruComics will sell the entire catalog of Darkslinger Comics in a downloadable, .pdf format. DriveThruComics is a new eBook initiative by the people behind http://www.drivethrurpg.com/. They affectionately call it "the iTunes of Comics". DriveThru's first specialty eBook store, http://www.drivethrurpg.com/, thrives under the “iTunes” business model. They will be bringing the same reach and accessibility to the comic buyer. According to DriveThru, "Early trial offerings of comics in our eBook format have been very successful in generating readership and we have every confidence that DriveThruComics will offer comic readers the same benefits that DriveThruRPG has been offering roleplaying game fans for the last two years." They have already partnered with several comic publishers, including Marvel's the Dabel Brothers. To buy The Ghost Assassin Prelude from DriveThruComics, go to: http://comics.drivethrustuff.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=766&products_id=15961 OR http://comics.drivethrustuff.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=766 for Darkslinger Comic's permanent link.

Independents Day!

A new revolution has started. Check out http://independents-day.blogspot.com Jason Berek-Lewis has started a new movement to try and get indy comics into more people's hands. I for one think this is a great idea and fully support it. Although I read several Marvel/DC/Dark Horse titles every month (mostly X-MEN I admit-although I do get just about everything else in trade), I do try to buy at least one smaller press title every time I go in a shop. I will post some reviews on these titles in the next few days. Have picked up many great titles as of late, including Super Real #2, Atomika #1-6 and a few lesser known titles. Will be updating more in the next few days.

More shops...

Over this past weekend I got the chance to visit a few more shops. Check out www.darkslinger.com/shops for a up to date list on shops where you can find Darkslinger Comics titles. I have recently sent copies of our books to www.independentpropaganda.com, I will update on when the books become available through them. Darkslinger Comics will be attending the Eugene Comics convention on May 21st. Be sure to stop by and say hi. We may be at the Olympia Comics Festival as well, just need to make sure which day it is first (website has two different days depending on which page you visit).

Sketchbook

Darkslinger Comics Sketchbook volume 1 is now out. The first sketchbook features character designs, unused pages and raw pages from Ghost Assassin and The Pauper. Featuring work by Charles Carvalho,
Federico Zumel, and Eve.

MORE POSTERS

Two more posters and one more print are on their way. Should be getting them tomorrow. The print features the "City on Fire Pauper" image and the posters are of the "Ghost Assassin Family Photo" and "Ghost Assassin: Melissa". Check 'em all out at www.darkslinger.com Next week is the Emerald City Comic Convention. I'll be attending, but do not have a booth. You can look forward to seeing Darkslinger Comics at the Eugene Comic Con though. More on that later.

In stores!

I went around to a few comic shops yesterday. Much to my surprise all three that I visited accepted copies of Ghost Assassin: Prelude. If anyone lives in the Portland, OR area and would like to pick up a copy, it is available at:
Excalibur Comics
Guapo Comics
Cosmic Monkey Comics
I will attempt to visit a few more stores this weekend. Hopefully I get a similar response.

Poster and more

I received the Ghost Assassin: David poster from Ka-Blam earlier this week. Ka-Blam continues to impress me. Went to the Portland comic con last weekend. The whole thing was fairly boring. In my opinion this is a con that has been slowly dying for the last several years. I only bought from one table, dropped $59 at Things From Another Worlds booth. Got some great Hellboy and Goon TPBs. One interesting thing I picked up was a postcard from Super Real. On the back it had an advertisement for clubflyers.com advertising 5,000 postcards for only $150. After checking it out I found out they will give you a set of 1,000 postcards for free if you pick up the shipping. After shipping charges it works out to $0.055 a piece. Not a bad deal. I plan on having some postcards printed through them to hand out at cons, comic shops and send out with my eBay orders. Hopefully that will drum up a little more awareness.

RECEIVED

I received the first batch of Ghost Assassin comics from Ka-Blam yesterday. I may be a little biased, but I think they look great! I wasn't sure if I should go with color because of the extra cost, but man am I glad I did! Makes it look just that much cooler. I am already sold out of about 50-60% of the initial run. Luckily I put in a reorder a few days after my first order. It finished and shipped this morning along with the Posters I made from the image of the Prelude cover.

Already done?

I sent the final page files to Ka-Blam at around 2 o'clock on Sunday. Monday night I recieved a message that the books had been shipped! I should have them this coming Monday. I'll update with the quality when I get them. If you would like to see sample pages you can go to www.darkslinger.com/TITLES

At the printers!

Finally after more than a year in production the first issue of Ghost Assassin is at the printers. Originally I intended this as a submission to Digital Webbing (which you should be supporting by the way). Well just as the letterer (the incredibly talented Dave Roethe) was finishing Ed changed the submissions. So I had to think of an alternate way of getting this story out there. Luckily, there are more than a few Printing On Demand (POD) printers available these days. I would like to have something printed with all three (Ka-Blam, SPA and comixpress) eventually. I decided to go with Ka-blam for this one as it was the most cost effective for color. May place an ad in Digital Webbing Presents for the comic if I can scrap together $100.
